About this collection
What to know before you choose
Trailing plants grow long, flexible stems that spill over the edge of the pot, so they look their best somewhere high: a shelf, the top of a bookcase or a hanging planter. Some, like pothos and philodendron, are vines that can also be trained up a moss pole; others, like string of hearts and string of turtles, stay small and delicate.
Plants above eye level are easy to forget, and warm air near the ceiling can dry them out faster, so check the soil regularly. Most of these plants want bright, indirect light. Several are toxic to pets, which is one more reason to hang them out of reach.
