Dry air & brown tips

Brown, crispy leaf tips and edges are common on indoor plants, and low humidity is the most likely cause, especially when the heating is on. Uneven watering can cause them too.

What to do

  1. 1 Check the room humidity with a hygrometer so you know whether the air is really dry.
  2. 2 Group plants together and stand humidity lovers on a pebble tray (pots on the pebbles, not in the water).
  3. 3 For a bigger lift, run a small humidifier near the plants.
  4. 4 Keep plants away from heaters and air vents, and trim brown tips with clean scissors if they bother you.
